How to Expand into Your Best Self

How to Expand into Your Best Self

“If you have the ability to dream it, you have the capacity to fulfill it”

-Jack Canfield

Your dreams are not there to taunt you, they were given uniquely to YOU so that you could fulfill them. When you feel discontent, it’s because you are ready to EXPAND. True happiness comes from allowing ourselves to grow. When we reach for new heights and accomplish our goals, we feel fulfilled. So follow your heart and go for it! The only person holding you back is yourself. This post will teach you how to get out of your own way by changing your thoughts to attract more of what you want into your life.

Intention is the secret ingredient in feng shui.  When you make adjustments with intention, you are setting a purpose for what you are doing.  The adjustments that you make to your environment will be more effective, and your desires will manifest more quickly.

How to Set Your Intention

Here are three suggestions on how to set your intention every time you feng shui a room. It is something you will want to do during the feng shui process, as well as after the room is completed.  It is also something that you should do during maintenance.  For example, after I applied feng shui to our bedroom, if I had cleaned out our closet or added a picture to the wall, I would set the intention for what I wanted.  The more intentional and purposeful you can make every change you make to your environment, the better the results will be!

Prayer

After making any external movement to your environment, you may bless the shift with a prayer from any religion that you identify with.  Remember, feng shui is not a religion.  It honors all beliefs, even non-believers so to speak. If you are Christian, you can say the Hail Mary or a prayer to Jesus. If you are Buddhist, you may say a prayer to Him.

Affirmation

  1. Affirmations are in the NOW:  Even if you don’t have exactly what you want right now, say what you want as if you already have it.  For example, if you are looking to accumulate more money so that you no longer have to be stressed out about paying off your bills, you would say, “I am grateful that I always have enough to pay my bills.”  Or “The universe supports me financially in everything that I do.”
  2. Affirm with gratitude or a positive emotion: When you say what you want, say it with a grateful heart. In addition, always say what it is that you are wanting to attract.  Avoid using any negative words such as “no” or “do not.” For example, if you are hoping to heal your relationship with your partner or another family member you could say, “I am thankful for our lifelong friendship and joyous relationship.”  Or, “I find great joy in talking with my partner about my feelings.  We listen to each other and feel deep fulfillment in our relationship.”
  3. Imagine the affirmation is true.  What does it feel like?  As you say the affirmation, imagine how you would feel if this really became true?  How does your body feel knowing that all is well?  How does your head and heart feel now that this area of your life is healed?  Say it.  Mean it.  Feel it. Dr. Laura Berman has elaborate research on the study of quantum physics and how this particular step, “feeling as if,” is so vital to the process of attracting what you want into your life.  Our body’s cells respond at the molecular level when we visualize what we want and act as if.  The Universe matches our vibrational frequencies and delivers exactly what it is that we are giving out.

Praying and Affirmation Combination

Gratitude attracts more abundance. Try praying in using a positive affirmation. Act as if God has already blessed you with your desires and it is on its way.   An example of this would be something like, “Dear God, I am so grateful for the abundance of money and friendships that you are sending my way (right now).”  Remember, The Universe, or God, says “yes” to all of your hearts desires, as long as it is for the greater good.  He wants you to be happy and experience all of the blessings the world has to offer you.

affirmation-bagua

There are official mudras or affirmations that have been passed down from our ancestors to feng shui practitioners.  These mudras are sacred and are only to be passed from teacher to student or from consultant to client. These are powerful tools that are available to you if you decide that you want to take your feng shui journey a step further.  However, your personal prayers and affirmations are still very powerful and important, and you WILL experience accelerated results by setting your intention in your own unique way.

I hope you have found this post helpful. My book which is anticipated this Spring will also feature ways to set intentions for your classroom, as well as how to teach students to think positive and believe in themselves.

Back to School: Get Your Feng Shui On!

Green Head Shot 2

Today was the first day back in my classroom after the summer break. I walked into a room with chairs piled on the counter and the students’ desks clustered in the center of the room. My floors were glistening, so I am not complaining.  I was looking at a clean slate, and it was time to reconsider the layout of my classroom. It had been in the same general formation for years, with the exception of the students’ desks.  Like many teachers, I would play around with different seating arrangements.  For the first time, I decided to use all that I knew about energy flow when designing my classroom.

I laid the  bagua map (see image below) on my classroom as my guide. Now, when you walk in my room, you will see a round kidney table in the Children/Creativity section which is enhanced by circular figures to represent the Metal Element.  Imagine all the creative ideas the students will have working together in this area! A large rectangular (horizontal) table is in the relationship corner with an even number of chairs to promote partnership and collaboration. My desk is located in the wealth corner.  Since the wealth and relationship guas are the “power positions” on the bagua map, these are great spaces for the teacher’s desk.  Although I spend little time at my desk, it will be good to occupy the wealth area and welcome in abundance in all of its many forms!

In addition to placing the furniture with intention, I used my bulletin boards to enhance the different guas.  Purple paper covers the large board in the Wealth Gua, while a calming blue takes over the board in the Career Gua. Since there are boards all around the room, and all the guas are represented by different colors, it makes for a very colorful classroom with variety and, most importantly, balance.

Staying Organized

On the first day, the students will proudly unload their brand new folders and sharpened pencils. We will organize their desks and go over everything’s “home” (because “everything has a home.”). Yet sixth graders are bound to throw loose leaf paper in their desk without a folder or leave random capless dried-out pens sitting in their pencil pouch. That is why every Friday we take 10 minutes to clean out our desks, even dust them.  Students who finish early bring out the broom and help sweep the floors.  Others dust the bookshelves and wipe off the surfaces of the countertops and tables.  The students love the extra responsibility, and they feel so much better when their space is organized and well tended to.

classroom library
This Classroom Library would be excellent in the wealth, wisdom/knowledge, or children/creativity guas.  The greens and blues represent abundance and depth of knowledge.  The circular accents bring out the creativity of your students.

Adding Yin Energy

After teaching for a decades, I have learned that it takes a couple of days for the students to warm up and come out of their shell. Once we get into the school year, kids tend to get really comfortable in their home-away-from-home and talk a lot more! This is why I pull out my “feng shui bag of tricks” everyday to keep the classroom calm when it needs to be. Remember the balance of yin and yang.  The classroom already has a lot of yang, or active energy, by nature.  Children, computers, and the fluorescent lights produce a lot of energy that needs to be balanced out.

Add yin, or soft energy, to the environment by playing soft classical or new-age music in the background during work time, especially if the lights are on.  Consider turning the lights off during direct instruction time. If your school allows, use aromatherapy with a diffuser.  Lavender will calm everyone, and citrus scents encourage alertness.  If you don’t have a diffuser, you could place a bowl of fresh orange peels on your desk.  Once they wilt, they not longer have a potent smell and you could replace them.

Sage Spray

Just like  at home, you can conduct mini space clearings in your classroom when the students are out of the room.  Sage lavender spray smells delightful and it clears the energy after any stressful situations.  You can go around the classroom and clap your hands from low to high to break up the stagnant energy.  Open a window to let in fresh air at least once a week.  However, with twenty to thirty pupils in a room everyday, it is probably best to let fresh energy in daily.

Feng shui crystal
Crystals are a great way to deflect negative or harsh energy.   They  will keep teachers  from feeling drained.

Crystals

You can protect your own personal energy and prevent yourself from feeling drained as well.  The feng shui faceted quartz crystal is very powerful.  It can clear any negative energy and deflect harsh energy from computers or people’s negative vibes.  You could carry the crystal in your pocket for protection.  I have even put a crystal on the computer cart in my classroom so that it breaks apart the harsh energy from the tablets.  If you wanted to hang a crystal, cut a nine inch red thread and loop it through the crystal. Hang it in any area of your classroom (or office) that you would like to see improvements.  If you are located near a busy road, you may consider hanging a crystal in the window, or placing it on the ledge of the window, for protection and to calm the energy of the room.

I hope you have a wonderful beginning of the school year!  I will be here all year to answer questions or address any specific concerns that come up throughout the year.  We are entering Mercury Retrograde which means electronics may act up!  Try to have a sense of humor about it, even though this may be the most inconvenient time for your SMART board or e-mail to  go haywire. Join me on facebook for daily tips and positive inspiration!

Everyone Has A Book Inside Of Them

13720431_757066770976_1587901433_o

The moment I found the courage to start writing a book, was the moment I heard Reid Tracy, the CEO of Hay House, say that we all have a book inside of us. “Everyone has a story to tell.” He was confident that anyone could make a positive impact on the world if they spoke up and shared their tale.

Something about Reid Tracy’s message awakened a deep longing in me to share my story. I found myself in the audience of the Chicago Writer’s Workshop. Despite the inspirational messages from Louise Hay and Doreen Virtue (more on them later), all I could think of was how much I needed to shake Reid’s hand.  There could not be more than 400 people here; it was a fairly intimate venue. I just had to tell him how grateful I was that he and his Hay House family followed their calling and found their voice to encourage everyday people like me to follow my calling and find my voice.

“The only thing that really matters when it comes to being a writer: getting out of your own way, and getting rid of the countless negative thoughts that tell you what a hopelessly uninteresting specimen of humanity you are.”*

Reid had been doing these Hay House Writer’s Workshops for a while. When I approached him, he might have thought I was going try to sneak my manuscript in his back pocket like so many others have before me. (I actually didn’t even have one at time, so you were in the clear, Reid). It caught him off guard when all I wanted to say to him was a sincere “thank you.”

I walked up to Reid nervously, but I knew I had to talk with him. This could be my only chance. “Thank you for helping a regular person like me to believe in myself,” I was actually saying it. “Thank you for supporting Wayne Dyer’s important life mission to help people tune into their higher self and fulfill their Dharma.”His eyes teared up at the mention of his best friend’s name, and he knew at that moment that Wayne was still very much alive in the hearts of so many. When I finished telling Reid how great of an impact he and Hay House had on the course of my life, I said with smile,  “…and that’s it.” Reid looked at me as if he was shocked that I didn’t pitch my book to him. After a slight hesitation, he gave me a huge hug. That hug meant the world to me. I didn’t even get a picture with him! All I have is this testimony. In this age of Twitter and Instagram it feels like without a picture it never really happened, but you believe me don’t you?

So what did that hug say to me? And what is the message for you, my fellow aspiring authors and light workers?

After Reid hugged me, I knew.  I knew that he truly believed in people and their ability to connect and inspire.  He followed his heart to encourage others, and just like one candle lights another, he lit a spark within me.

You can be someone else’s light too.  Speak your truth.  Stop keeping it to yourself and shine. The world needs your light. You could be the next Oprah (or meet her at the very least). We are all born with the capacity to fulfill our dreams and desires; you dreams are your Dharma And they were given uniquely to you. Like a rose, some of us will open up into full bloom.  Yet some will not.  It is up to you to grow to your fullest capacity.

Let’s look at Gabby Bernstein for example. She is is a well-known a professional motivational speaker, author, and life coach, and she has been featured on Oprah numerous times. But like all of us, Gabby did not start at the top. A NYC girl, started her journey to her greatness when she got involved in alcoholics anonymous (AA).  As a sponsor for other people who were also recovering addicts, she found her voice (and her hidden talent to speak up and inspire). This is where she discovered that the world needed her light, and she started teaching others that “the world needs your light.”

This is my wish for you too. Please know you have infinite possibilities to fulfill your life purpose. We all do. If it were not for the spiritual teachers in my life who followed their inner voice and spoke up to inspire others, I might not have ever started writing my book. It’s because of teachers like Dr. Wayne Dyer, Doreen Virtue, Louise Hay, and Reid Tracy that I have explored my passion for feng shui even deeper and started sharing out.

Learn to ignore the ego. The ego is the voice that “Edges God Out.”  The ego tells you that your idea has been done before, that you are not good enough, or that you are not capable. The ego tells you what you have to say is not important, but we all have something important to say if we come from our Higher Self and speak our truth. Don’t keep it to yourself. If it’s for the greater good, please raise your voice. We need more people like you right now, more than ever. So what is burning in your heart today? There is no time like the now to get started.

Until next time,

Namaste!

The Facebook “Like” That Changed My Life

13621640_755884545166_188369021_o

If you would have told me a year ago I would be a mother, teacher, AND a feng shui consultant, I would not have believed you.  One simple Facebook “like” changed the course of my life forever. While in the North Carolina on a family vacation over the 4th of July weekend, I came across Wayne Dyer’s page.  After liking his page, I was guided to multiple tools that inspired me, centered me, and completely changed the course of my path! Wayne introduced me to Hay House radio and all of his amazing friends there. Sadly, he passed away suddenly about a month after “liking” his page.  Thereafter, his best friend Reid Tracy, the CEO of Hay House, honored Wayne’s life by selling all of his books on Amazon Kindle for a major discount.  Months after Wayne’s passing, I was surrounded by his message, “Don’t die with your music still in you.” Because of him, I decided to follow my dharma, my heart, my life purpose. I’m here to share with you the three tools that saved me.  Maybe you can use all three, maybe only one will speak to you today.   As the one year anniversary of Wayne’s death approaches, I feel so compelled to honor his voice and share with you three things that might help you live your purpose NOW.

1. Doreen Virtue’s Angel Numbers, Tarot Cards, and Beyond…

I really credit my life-altering decision to go into feng shui professionally to the angels. Everyone, you and I included, has the ability to communicate with angels and get Spiritual guidance. The best part is, they are alway positive and send their messages lovingly. After “liking” Wayne’s page, he shared Doreen Virtue’s Angel Numbers app on his page.  Some of you know Doreen Virtue PhD. as “The Angel Lady,” but I had never heard of her until downloading this application.  I absolutely fell in love with her positive approach.  She basically gives positive, motivating affirmations (that the angels send to you through numbers you see throughout the day).  You can use this application all day to help you reach your greatest potential and feel fulfilled.  I then downloaded some of her tarot cards.  Communicating with angels was never anything that I thought I could do, but she makes it so easy.  They are our spiritual guides, and she has provided tools that give you accurate guidance and answers. The beyond part was the Angels of Abundance course that I signed up with Doreen and her son Grant.  It was such a healing four part course that changed the way I look at money and allowing more abundance into my life!

2. Numerology

I have always been interested in numerology, and I truly think EVERYONE should know their personal numbers.  They show you why you are here on this Earth.  What is your purpose?  What is your soul’s longing?  Some of us are here to learn how to be loving and supportive mothers or fathers.  Some of us are here to help animals or help the environment.  There are many, many lessons that we are here to learn, and your numbers give you guidance and help you understand some of the heartache and karmic problems that you may have faced. We all want these kinds of answers.  I found Hay House author Michelle Buchanan through Wayne’s page, and it has been most helpful!  But please let me know any other recommendations you have!

3. Feng Shui

Well, if you didn’t know by now, I was guided to make a career of feng shui (the practice of designing your environment to get results you want in your life).  After “liking” Wayne’s page, I was introduced to his Morning Manifestation Meditation app.  That’s right, I started to meditate daily.  This opened my heart and mind to my true calling and desire to help others in a new way.  Everyday I learned more and more about what made me happy, and I learned that I have the ability to help others feel self-empowered.  You have a voice too!  We all have a voice, but we just need to courage and strength to use it.  Feng shui has helped me a live a more balanced and harmonious life.  It has been the greatest gift.

As always, if you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.  I welcome you to visit my Facebook Page!  Thanks to Wayne, I am now sharing my light with the world, and I hope you will too.  “Don’t die with your music still in you.”

Until Next time,

Namaste!

Four Steps to Improve Cash Flow

s-w300

Do you want a bit more money in your purse or wallet?  A healthier bank account?  Here is a new feng shui cure for you to try.  All you need is a metal bowl!

Step One:  When reading Davinia Mackail’s Feng Shui, a Hay House Basic*, she revealed an excellent cure that I cannot wait to try!  First, locate the Helpful People/Travel area of your home.  It is in the font of your house when you enter, all the way to the right (see begua map below).

Screen Shot 2016-03-28 at 2.06.53 PM

Step Two: The helpful people and travel gua is ruled by the metal element.  Locate a metal bowl and place it somewhere in this area. It can have any metallic finishes such as silver, gold, bronze, or copper. Any additional circular details on the bowl will simply enhance the metal element and maximize the benefits.

Step Three: Now that you have an empty metal bowl in the Helpful People gua, it is time to fill it up! Every time you have loose change, place the coins in the bowl.  The coins are made of metal and round, so the effect of the coins is doubled.

Step Four: Once the bowl is filled, donate the money to a charity of your choice. This area is not only enhanced by metal, but it also represents Spiritual People.  “There are many spiritual ideology that advocates the practice of tithing– giving away 10 percent of earnings to help others.”  Therefore, this cure is all around perfect when practiced in this area of your home!

According to Mackail, you should find that as a result of this practice, your general cash flora will increase.  Your bank account will look healthier.  And you will find ways to save money or reduce your costs. Plus it just feels good to give back, doesn’t it?

Please give this a try and let me know how it works for you!  I am going to locate a bowl and give it a try myself. I also invite you to “like” my Facebook page!

Until next time,

Namaste!
